‘IT has potential to change face of state’

Times of India- 5th December 2018

The two-day ‘Patna Ideathon 2018’ concluded on Tuesday with state information technology (IT) department and Software Technology Park of India (STPI) resolving to establish a centre of excellence here to spur the growth of IT industry in the state. Altogether 36 IT sector startups participated in the event. Delhi-based startup Testride Nano Systems bagged the first prize, while Nagpur’s Bliscare and Bengaluru’s Minion Labs won the second and third prizes, respectively. Addressing the concluding ceremony, Bihar State Planning Board vice-chairman G S Kang said the state needed more innovations to address issues concerning agriculture and industry sectors. “IT-driven solutions, such as direct benefit transfer (DBT) and online mode of payment have already changed people’s lives. However, more needed to be done for the welfare of the people of the state,” he said, adding young entrepreneurs, who have migrated to other states, would return to Bihar if their ideas were recognized by the state. “The IT industry is bound to change the face of Bihar in the years to come,” Kang said. Vivek Kumar Singh, principal secretary to Bihar governor and Omkar Rai, director-general of STPI, also spoke on the occasion.
